Russian political philosopher and geopolitical theorist — author of The Foundations of Geopolitics (1997) and The Fourth Political Theory, associated with Eurasianism and often called 'Putin's brain.'
Eurasianism and The Fourth Political Theory: Dugin's geopolitical vision: Russia should lead a Eurasian civilization bloc against the liberal-democratic 'Atlanticist' (American-led) world order. His Foundations of Geopolitics (assigned reading in Russian military academies) provides a detailed strategy for Russian expansion through subversion: encouraging UK exit from Europe, destabilizing the US through racial conflict, splitting Germany from NATO, drawing Ukraine into Russia's sphere. His Fourth Political Theory proposes a synthesis of fascism, communism, and religious Traditionalism (from René Guénon and Julius Evola) as an alternative to liberalism. His daughter Darya Dugina was killed in a car bombing in 2022.
