Martin Heidegger (1889–1976) was a German philosopher, one of the most influential of the 20th century, known for Being and Time (1927), his analysis of Dasein and Being, and his critique of technology and modernity. His involvement with National Socialism remains deeply controversial.
Being and Time transformed phenomenology and ontology; his critique of technology and modernity became foundational for environmental and post-liberal thought.
