Jimi Hendrix: Starting at Zero

A collection of Hendrix's own words — interviews, letters, and statements — assembled into a self-portrait of the musician in his own voice.

Primary source biography: rather than critical interpretation, Starting at Zero assembles Hendrix's own words into a coherent narrative. The value is access to Hendrix's genuine voice — thoughtful, poetic, curious — which challenges the mythology of the dissolute rock star. Reveals his artistic seriousness and his own understanding of what he was doing technically.
