Paul Ehrlich (born 1932) is an American biologist at Stanford best known for The Population Bomb (1968), which predicted imminent mass famine and societal collapse due to overpopulation—predictions that did not materialize. He became the paradigmatic example of failed Malthusian catastrophism.
The Population Bomb became the defining text of neo-Malthusian catastrophism; his failed predictions became a reference point in debates about environmental alarmism.
