Classical Chinese Daoist philosopher and literary genius who developed a radical perspectivism — all perspectives are equally limited and partial — and a philosophy of spontaneous non-action (wu wei) and natural transformation.
Perspectivism: there is no absolute standard by which to judge perspectives; the sage does not take a fixed position (qi wu lun — equalization of things). Transformation of things: life and death, dream and waking, self and other are all transformations of the Dao. Cook Ding: the master acts with the natural flow of things, not against it. The butterfly dream: am I a man dreaming I am a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming I am a man?
